KU Foundation awards full scholarship to Extreme Makeover daughter

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Kutztown University Foundation announced the awarding of a full scholarship to Cora Urban , the 18-month-old daughter of Trisha A. Urban and the late Andrew D. Urban, the family selected for the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (EMHE) project held this week near Hamburg, Pa .

The scholarship includes tuition, room, board and fees for Cora Urban , making her the first official member of the KU freshman class of 2027.

 “We’re very proud to participate as an official sponsor of the build with this scholarship. This family has been through so much in the past 18 months; this will secure Cora’s future with the opportunity to attend college,” said Edward T. Richmond , chief financial officer of the KU Foundation.

Since the build was announced, Kutztown University has been rallying alumni, staff, students and families in the area to participate as volunteers and spectators.

KU electronic media students and alumni have been visiting the site daily, shadowing production staffers, filming and interviewing volunteers, EMHE producers and local officials. Electronic media professor Helen Bieber was on hand for most of the week, instructing KU videographers, bringing the classroom to the Extreme Makeover living room. 

The Emmy award winning reality program “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” now entering its 8th season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It’s executive-produced by Brady Connell and George Verschoor. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America. The show airs Sundays from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.
