Just Say 'Cheers' to Conservation at the National Zoo
Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) sampled beers from more than 40 national and international breweries, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C., Thursday evening, a picture-perfect Bastille Day night with moderate temperatures and low-humidity. All proceeds from the event went to support animal care, conservation, science, education and sustainability programs at the National Zoo.
The sold-out crowd was quite large, but there was plenty of room to sit under tents and on grassy hillsides and stroll among the many booths, representing Abita Brewing Company, Boston Beer Company, Guinness, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Palm Breweries, Sierra Nevada Brewing, Yuengling and locals such as Port City and Lost Rhino, Northern Virginia’s newest brewery from Ashburn.
Along with beer sampling, food was available for sale from local restaurants, including Rocklands BBQ with their signature wood-smoked chopped pork and pulled chicken sandwiches. Wafting in the mid-summer’s night air was music by White Ford Bronco, who preformed some excellent cover for the crowd.
New this year, marking the upcoming July 21 Belgian Independence Day, the evening celebrated the popularity of Belgian beers with full pours in a special Belgian Beer Garden tent with specialty food items from Belga Café, Brasserie Beck, Et Viola!, and Firefly for VIP Brew Club patrons at $85 a hit ($100 for nonmembers). (Tickets for the rest of us were $50 for FONZ members and $65 for nonmembers. Sober driver tickets were available for $20 but did not include the sampler mug or unlimited half pours in the general admission area.) Pouring in the Belgian tent were beers from Duvel USA, Global Beer Network, Latis Imports and Wetten Importers.
The event was laden with young professionals and sells out early each year. So mark your calendars for 2012 by visiting www.fonz.org/brew.htm .
Saturday marks a full year that a steady stream of amazing beers have been flowing at Mad Fox Brewing Company in Falls Church at the Spectrum, 444 West Broad Street. “Once people get used to drinking good beer, then they won't accept bad beer," said owner and master brewer Bill Madden.
The all-day party will feature oak-aged Slobberknocker American-style barleywine, Madden's famous Wee Heavy (the epitome of a malty scotch ale at 8.

The specifications of various research paper title page formats
There are not many students who take their research paper title pages seriously enough. The title page is not just one of the important components of a research paper but it is the most important one. It is mandatory that you format your research paper title page as per the specifications of the format you are using. The research paper title page formats are not tough to comprehend which is enough reason for you to ensure that you have prepared your title page in the most perfect manner.
Understanding the significance of the title pageTitle page is, indeed one of the simplest parts of a research paper. And it is not difficult to apply a research paper title page format appropriately, either. But that does not mean you can be careless while preparing it. On the other hand, as it is so simple to prepare a title page, you will not be able to make excuses for errors in the formatting of the title page. The title page is the first page of a research paper, also known as the cover page, and provides information on:
• The title • The date of submission
These pieces of information are vital as it concerns the most important factors related to the paper. A mistake on something as simple as the title page would leave a very bad impression about your paper which would affect the response you get for your research paper, negatively.
Presenting the title pageEven though the information included on the title pages are more or less the same for all documentation styles, the method of presentation varies considerably. The most commonly used documentation formats in academia are the APA and the MLA formats. Most students will get to work on these two formats at least once during their academic period. If you note the specifications of the research paper title page formats of the documentation styles which you use most often, it will help you in getting through the task quickly and efficiently.
The APA styleAPA style is most commonly used for the documentation of research papers in psychology and sociology. The unique feature of an APA style title page is the ‘running head’. The generalized part of the title is used as the running head and is included in the title page as well as all the pages of the research paper. It is meant to remind the readers of the topic of discussion.
The MLA styleMLA style discourages the use of a separate title page, even though the option is available for those who want a separate title page. MLA style prefers the title page to be a part of the first page of the research paper. The information on the author, the course title, the instructor and the date of submission are typed one below the other, double-spaced, on the top left hand corner of the page. The title is printed two spaces below it, centrally aligned. The research paper is to begin two spaces below the title.
