Preparation. There are a lot of things that need to be done in order to replace an oil pump. Begin by placing the vehicle on a ramp or a lift if you have one. If not, you can use a jack but make sure that you support the front wheels and lock the emergency brake. Then, detach the oil pan at the bottom of your engine followed by installing the traverse member. Follow this by attaching the engine mount using bolts and make sure that they are tightened really well. The next step will be the removal of components in which you have to do in order: timing belt, followed by the crankshaft, inner timing belt guide, the belt tension nut, the tensioner with spring and the bracket bolt connecting to the alternator. You will also need to remove the pump bolts of the power steering mechanism. After you have removed the bolts, you will also need to remove the bracket. Detach the connector of the oil pressure sensor, then remove the bolts of the oil filter and remove the filter as well. Now, remove the bolts from the oil pumps and throw away the o-rings and the gasket and finally, take out the oil pump. Installing the oil pump. You need to make sure that every component is free from debris and majority of dirt before you install the new pump. Start by removing the crankshaft seal from the oil pump and attach the new seal in the pump. Follow this by adding engine oil to the new seal’s inner portion. Now, all you have to do is install the components you have taken out by reattaching them the other way when you took each one out. Make sure that every bolt is tightened properly. Finally, add the oil pump tube and oil filter adapter then tighten the bolts according to model specifications. Add new oil in the engine of your car then start the engine. Inspect the area you have worked on if there are any leaks or loose bolts.
