By Edna O'Brien. The company will produce marketing videos about some of the Bedford Square authors, which will then be distributed through Open Road's online platform and syndicated to other online content providers.

In the UK, Bedford Square Books will be created and distributed by digital production company Acorn.

Agent Ed Victor launched Bedford Square Books in May this year, focusing initially on putting back into circulation titles from his agency that are out of print or those on which the rights have reverted. Twelve titles will be released in September, with a further six planned for January 2012 release.

Open Road co-founder and c.e.o. Jane Friedman said: "Working with Bedford Square Books to digitally publish their titles elucidates Open Road's commitment to bring backlist books back to the future. We are looking forward to continuing our unique relationship with Ed Victor.

Penfield author makes his debut

My favorite fictional author is Jack Higgins. I think I have read almost every book he has ever written. My idea of a great afternoon is to be at a lakeside with a couple of steaks on the grill and a Jack Higgins novel to read. My favorite book and the

Jack Higgins - Books

I've only recently got into reading novels after many years of reading factual stuff. Presently I'm trawling through Jack Higgins novels and finding them a bit too simplistic, interesting plots but predictable sometimes. He also tends to mention Krug champagne, Atkinson Grimshaw paintings, Beretta handguns and other aricles by brandname more than once, which sort of gives the impression he's trying to impress whilst at the same time gives the impression they are the only ones he knows anything about.

I know as much about guns as I do about nuclear physics. I remember Nancy Reagan being stopped by British customs and having a gun taken off her, she tried to justify bringing it into the country by saying "Aw, but it's only an itsy bitsy one". The gun is the Oscar Wilde equivalent of "worm at one end and a fool at the other" except the worm is the victim.

Thanks, I'll check out anything suggested. I'm still struggling my way through Quiet Flows The Don by Mikhail Sholokhov, I keep putting it down and trying something lighter then picking it up and having to recap and readjust to the storyline. There are parts where you really need to read it to saturation in order to absorb the intensity but as soon as you put it down it it all fizzles out and is very hard to tap into it all again.

I am in a similar situation to yours, reading more fiction now, than I was able to in the past, and since you mention that you like spy thrillers, I had to share with you that I'm reading a very interesting one right now… though it is more a philosophical thesis than spy thriller. And very long too. Still, it grabs hole of you for the long haul, and I find it very interesting. The book is Harlot's Ghost by Norman Mailer.
